Escondido STAR Smog Check FAQ
Escondido STAR Smog Check is a test-only STAR smog station at 1602 East Valley Parkway in east Escondido. We're open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 4 PM. Walk in or book online, and call (760) 690-2360 for anything not covered here.
What are your hours?
Weekdays 8 AM to 5 PM, Saturday 8 AM to 4 PM. Closed Sunday.
Do I need an appointment?

Are you a STAR-certified station?
Yes, we are a STAR-certified station.
How long does a smog certificate last?
A smog certificate is good for 90 days. A passing car leaves with its vehicle inspection report.
What happens if my car fails?
We walk you through the inspection report. The repair goes to a licensed test-and-repair or repair-only station you choose; then bring the car back for our $30 smog retest.
What are the $30 smog retest terms?
One discounted retest for the same vehicle at the same station within 30 calendar days of the original paid, failed inspection. The retest is $21.75; if the vehicle passes, the $8.25 state certificate brings the total to $30. If it fails again, the retest is $21.75. A completed inspection that fails because readiness monitors are not ready counts as the retest. An inspection we abort costs nothing and does not use the retest; the 30-day window still applies. Additional retests and returns after 30 days are charged at posted regular prices. Repairs are not included.
Do you test diesels or older vehicles?
Please call us at (760) 690-2360 before you come in with a diesel, a 1999 or older vehicle, or anything other than a gas or hybrid car, truck, SUV or van, and we'll confirm.
Do you have coupons?

How do I pay?
Payment is made at the counter when your service is done.
